Panasonic batteries have a reputation for strong performance over many years. They are maintenance-free, but the cells are still accessible for topping up with water in very hot conditions if required.

The Design balances long life in hot and cold climates, with good starting power and strong reserve capacity to run the vehicle's electronic computers and accessories. This requires stable voltage in all conditions, especially for newer models fitted with Idle-Start-Stop (ISS) systems. It is the combination of long-life, stable voltage, overall capacity and adequate starting power that needs to be balanced. Most after-market batteries focus on "CCA" for marketing reasons, to the detriment of these other critical requirements.
